Tokyo, Apr 8 (UNI) An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.2 struck the southern Japanese prefecture of Miyazaki, the weather agency said Monday.
The temblor occurred at 10:25 a.m. local time at a depth of 40 km, measuring lower 5 on Japan’s seismic intensity scale, which peaks at 7, said the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).
The epicenter was located off the eastern Osumi Peninsula at a latitude of 31.6 degrees north and a longitude of 131.5 degrees east.
The earthquake also logged 4 on the seismic scale in multiple regions of Miyazaki and Kagoshima prefectures, said the JMA.
With no tsunami threat from the earthquake, no casualties have been reported so far.
