Kathmandu, Feb 15 (UNI) Twenty people were killed and dozens of others injured in two traffic accidents in Nepal in the past two days.
A passenger bus carrying 40 people to Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital, plunged into a river in Kapilvastu district early Thursday, leaving 10 dead and all the others wounded.
“Six of the injured have been discharged, while 24 others are receiving treatment at different hospitals,” Hari Bahadur Oli, a local police officer, told Xinhua. “Over speeding could have led to the accident.”
On Wednesday, an overloaded jeep skidded off a highway in Palpa district, killing eight on the spot and injuring 16 others.
Two of the wounded died later in treatment. Hundreds of people lose their lives in road accidents in Nepal each year.
