Nashik, Sep 16 (UNI) A 19-year-old boy died by drowning in Chabhardari dam at Shirsoli in Jalgaon district.
According to police, the deceased, identified as Sonu alias Sopan Sanjay Mahajan, resident of Shirsoli village, Jalgaon, had gone to Chabhardari dam with two of his friends on Friday.
Mahajan got into the water for swimming but drowned, as he did not know the depth of water.
Frightened by this incident, his friends called out for help.
Hearing their cries, the villagers from surrounding areas came running and they removed Mahajan out of the dam water and admitted him to the Government Medical College & Hospital, Jalgaon for treatment, where he was declared brought dead by the medical authorities, sources added.
