Murder accused jumps from 2nd floor during weapon recovery

Bhopal: Naseem alias Banne Khan, the prime accused in the Amit Verma murder case that occurred in Leeladhar Colony under the Chhola Mandir police station area, was arrested by police from Betul on Thursday. However, in a dramatic turn of events during the recovery of the murder weapon in Chhola Mandir in Bhopal, Khan jumped from the second floor, injuring himself and a police officer.

According to police officials, Banne Khan was taken to the crime scene to recover the pistol allegedly used in the murder. As the team reached the house and approached the suspected hiding spot of the weapon, accused suddenly jumped from the second floor in an attempt to flee. The incident caused chaos, during which Head Constable Mukesh Bharti of Nishatpura police station sustained injuries.

Despite taking precautionary measures, the police team was caught off guard by the accused’s unexpected move. Banne Khan was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.

No interrogation yet

Officials confirmed that due to his current medical condition, formal interrogation of Banne Khan has not yet begun. Doctors are monitoring his condition, and it is still unclear whether he has suffered fractures. The police are awaiting a full medical report.

Preliminary interrogation before the incident revealed that Banne Khan had a financial dispute with Amit Verma over hawala money, during which a gunshot was fired, resulting in Verma’s death. Khan had been absconding since the incident.

Given his history and the sudden escape attempt, tight security has been deployed at People’s Hospital where he is being treated. Authorities are maintaining high alert to prevent any further incidents.
