- Orange alert issued for several MP Districts
Bhopal, Parts of Madhya Pradesh, including Dindori and Jabalpur, are bracing for heavy to very heavy rainfall starting Friday, July 4th. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for several districts, predicting widespread showers accompanied by strong winds up to 40 kmph.
The districts specifically under an Orange Alert for Friday’s heavy downpour include Dindori, Jabalpur, Mandla, Balaghat, Guna, Shivpuri, and Sheopur Kalan. Additionally, light to moderate rainfall is also anticipated in Ashoknagar, Vidisha,j Rajgarh, Gwalior, Datia, Chhatarpur, and Tikamgarh districts, which are also under an Orange Alert.
The meteorological department has forecasted continuous heavy rainfall across the state until July 6th. Residents in affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions.
According to the IMD, the current weather conditions are influenced by several active systems. The monsoon trough is currently extending from Bikaner, Sheopur, Khajuraho, Daltonganj, and Digha, moving east-southeastwards to the northeast Bay of Bengal.
Furthermore, a cyclonic circulation is active over central parts of West Rajasthan and adjoining areas at 0.9 km above mean sea level. Another cyclonic circulation is present over northeast Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas at 1.5 km above mean sea level. An upper air cyclonic circulation is also active over West Bengal and adjoining north Odisha between 1.5 and 5.8 km above mean sea level, tilting southwestwards with height.
A trough line is extending from the northeast Arabian Sea to the northwest Bay of Bengal, passing through Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and the cyclonic circulation over West Bengal and adjoining north Odisha, between 3.1 and 5.8 km above mean sea level, also tilting southwestwards with height. These combined weather systems are contributing to the intensified rainfall activity across the region.
