MP eyes Rs 3800 crore investment in frozen potato products unit

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh is poised to significantly boost its industrial and employment landscape with a proposed Rs 3800 crore investment from McCain Foods for a frozen potato product manufacturing unit. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav affirmed that 2025 is the year for rapidly realizing industrial development potential, with the state actively receiving investment proposals across various sectors. He assured investors of all necessary facilities, including land and policy support, for establishing industrial units.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav held discussions on Thursday at Samatva Bhawan, the Chief Minister’s residence, with Mr. Pierre Dennet, Regional President of McCain Foods, and his delegation.

Dennet informed the Chief Minister that McCain Foods has proposed a Rs 3800 crore investment in Madhya Pradesh. This investment aims to provide farmers with a stable market, better prices, and advanced agricultural techniques through contract farming. In the first phase, Rs 1800 crore will be invested, creating direct and indirect employment opportunities for 6300 individuals.

McCain Foods, a global company founded in Canada, primarily manufactures frozen potato products such as French fries, aloo tikki, and various snack items. The company has played a significant role in India’s food sector since 2007. Currently, McCain Foods operates a state-of-the-art production unit in Mehsana, Gujarat, where it procures potatoes directly from farmers to produce a range of food products.

Also present during the discussion were Principal Secretary of Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion, Raghavendra Kumar Singh, and Commissioner of Public Relations, Dr. Sudam Khade.
