Rewa’s ‘development man’ Rajendra Shukla will become the Deputy Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. He is a powerful leader not only in Vindhya but in the state and has been winning elections for five consecutive times.
Vindhya was once a stronghold of Congress, but Rajendra Shukla, known as Chanakya of politics, created such an equation that the entire Vindhya has become a stronghold of BJP. In the 2018 elections, BJP got eight seats from Rewa and in the 2023 elections, BJP got seven seats from Rewa.
Start of political career – Graduated from Engineering College and was elected President of Engineering College Students Union in 1986 and contested the first election from Rewa Assembly in 1998, but lost by few votes. After that, in 2003, he reached the Assembly for the first time by contesting elections from Rewa Assembly on a BJP ticket and won the elections by a historic 56208 votes and also became the Minister of State. In 2008, 2013, 2018 and 2023, he was elected MLA for the fifth consecutive time and was made the Deputy Chief Minister of the state. He continued winning elections and becoming a minister. He has given many achievements and gifts to Rewa. Be it the historical Mukundpur Tiger Safari or Sports Complex, Eco Park, Journalism University or the gift of River Fruit, Flyover, ROB, Sanskrit University. Apart from development of industrial areas, II Park, Global Park, Rewa Airport, the largest Mohania Tunnel, beautification of the city’s ponds, work was done to develop Rewa city on the lines of a metropolis.

Rajendra Shukla won the elections five times consecutively and also continued to fulfill the responsibilities of various departments. Every time he won the elections, he was awarded the post of minister in the state government and created a new identity by doing unprecedented work in the department in which he was the minister. For the first time, the Minister of State for Housing and Environment was made an independent charge. For the second time in 2008, he became the Energy and Mineral Resources Minister and in 2013 he was made the Industry Minister. He was the Minister of various departments including Forest Minister, Forestry, Biodiversity, Biotechnology, Law, Legislative, Public Relations, Industry, PHE.
