Asia Cup final: Sri Lanka win toss, elect to bat first

Colombo, Sep 17 (UNI) Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first against India in Asia Cup final at R Premadasa Stadium here on Sunday.

All the Indian players, rested in the match against Bangladesh, are back. Axar Patel, who was ruled out of the tournament due to an injury, has been replaced by Washington Sundar.

Captain Rohit Sharma said he would have batted first too as the pitch looks dry. However, the team is confident of chasing down whatever Sri Lanka put on the board, he said.

“This is a good chance to go aggressive with the ball and see what the surface has to offer. We came really close last game, anything about 240 on this surface is good. Our job today is to do well with the ball, and then see what we can do with the bat,” he said.

Sri Lanka have made one change, bringing in Dushan Hemnatha instead of Maheesha Theekshana.

Teams:

India (Playing XI): Rohit Sharma(c), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul(w), Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj
