Around 27.78 pc polling in Maharashtra till 1 PM

Mumbai, May 20 (UNI) An estimated 27.78 per cent of over 2.48 crore electorate exercised their franchise in the fifth phase election to 13 Lok Sabha seats of Maharashtra state till 1 PM on Monday.

According to Election Commission sources, Dindori constituency recorded the highest 33 .35 per cent voting followed by Palghar 31.06 per cent, Mumbai North East 28.82 per cent, Dhule 28.73 per cent, Nashik 28.51 per cent, Mumbai North West 28.41 per cent, Mumbai North Central 28.05 per cent, Bhiwandi 27.34 per cent, Mumbai South Central 27.21 per cent, Mumbai North 26.78 per cent , Thane 26.05. per cent, Mumbai South 24.46 per cent and Kalyan 22.52 per cent.

Over 2.48 crore electorate are expected to exercise their franchise to return 13 winners among 264 aspirants from different political parties, including that of ruling Mahayuti and opposition Mhavikas Agadhi, in about 24,579 polling stations.

Almost all the candidates from all the major political parties cast thier votes.

After the voting allegation and counter-allegation on each other were seen from the Mahayuti and MVA sides and both were expressing hope to win the election.

Reports said numbers of celebrities came out to cast their votes.

So far polling is going on peacefully except complaint of snag in EVM machines in different polling stations in these constituencies.
