New Delhi, Oct 5 (UNI) Aam Aadmi Party workers on Thursday held a protest near the BJP headquarters in Delhi against the arrest of their leader Sanjay Singh by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case.
Earlier in the day, Delhi Minister Atishi said ED has been conducting a probe into the alleged Delhi excise policy scam for the last 15 months, but has failed to produce any evidence.
Challenging the BJP, Atishi asked them to declare how much money was recovered from Sanjay Singh’s residence during the ED raid. “The agency should come forward and tell the nation about it.
“If you (BJP) have any proof of even a penny then present it before the country or else leave politics,” said Atishi.
Taking a dig at the BJP, Delhi Minister Gopal Rai said the ED’s action on Sanjay Singh shows the fear that has gripped the BJP government at the centre, which will be defeated in the coming Lok Sabha elections.
“They want to win the election by putting all the opposition leaders in jail,” said Rai.
On Wednesday, ED arrested AAP leader and MP Sanjay Singh after raids at his residence in connection with the Delhi liquor police case.
Ahead of the arrest, the probe agency questioned him for over ten hours in the case linked to the Delhi liquor policy.
Singh is the third AAP leader to be arrested by the ED. Earlier, then minister Satyender Jain was arrested for money laundering, while Depty Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was taken into custody in connection with the alleged liquor policy scam.
Meanwhile, Delhi BJP leaders and workers visited Rajghat against alleged corruption in Delhi excise policy. “Mahatma Gandhi ji used to say that liquor causes physical and spiritual degradation of a person but here in Delhi we have seen that liquor has caused the moral degradation of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal,” alleged Virendra Sachdeva, president, Delhi BJP unit.
