Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal
Preparations have begun to start the maternity department soon at the Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Center (BMHRC). It is known that it is mandatory for a UG college to have a hospital with 22 departments.

This is the reason why a 300-bed separate super-speciality hospital is being started here. As soon as this department starts, women will be able to get their deliveries done here. By increasing the capacity of BMHRC, three hundred beds will be added. In which patients of Maternity, General Surgery, General Medicine and Orthopedics departments will be kept. As soon as this facility is expanded, gas victims will be able to get treatment for common diseases along with delivery facilities at BMHRC. Presently a super specialty hospital is being operated in the hospital building. A proposal to construct a new building for the expansion of the hospital is also being prepared. A medical college with 100 MBBS seats is also to be started here in the next session. Last year, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya had announced this.

Patients will benefit

Gas victims and other general patients will benefit from the medical college and new hospital. While common diseases can be treated in the hospital, the hospital will get new doctors and specialists from the medical college. At present PG courses are being conducted in six subjects in the institute.
