Bhopal: A serious mishap was narrowly averted at Bhopal railway station on Saturday evening when a young man slipped while trying to get off a moving train. The incident, which came to light on Sunday, highlights the crucial role of alertness and swift action by railway personnel.
According to information, the Chhattisgarh Express was departing from platform number 1 when Amarpal Singh, a resident of Gandhinagar, Bhopal, attempted to deboard the train after helping his family board and loading their luggage. Despite having only a platform ticket, he went up to the coach. As the train began to move, he tried to jump down, lost his balance, and slipped between the coach and the platform.
Fortunately, RPF constable Krishna Kumar noticed the dangerous situation in time. He rushed forward and pulled Amarpal out, saving him from being dragged under the train. The youth escaped with only minor injuries and was immediately given first aid at the station dispensary.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Saurabh Kataria praised the constable’s quick response and presence of mind, which prevented a potential tragedy. He also urged passengers to avoid boarding or alighting from a moving train and to do so only when the train has completely halted.
