Bhopal: Scope Global Skills University (SGSU), Bhopal, is celebrating World Environment Day with a week-long series of engaging and educational activities under the sponsorship of the Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology. Hosted by the Faculty of Science, the celebrations began with a tree plantation ceremony graced by Registrar Dr. Sitesh Sinha, Dean of Science Dr. Satyendra Khare, deans and heads of various departments, faculty members, and enthusiastic students.
The first day featured active student participation in paper and poster presentations, and speech competitions focused on environmental awareness. Dr. Nitin Mod, Dean of Commerce, and Dr. Sanju Sharma, Head of the Education Department, served as judges and motivated the students to commit to environmental protection.
Expert lectures were delivered
On the second day, expert lectures were delivered by Dr. Lokendra Thakkar, Officer In-Charge, MP Wetland Authority (EPCO), and Dr. Vipin Vyas, Professor, Barkatullah University. Dr. Thakkar emphasized lifestyle changes to reduce nano plastic pollution, which is now found in human brains via water and food. A documentary on the harmful effects of plastic, produced by Dr. Satyendra Khare, was screened. Dean Academics Prof. V.K. Gupta expressed concerns about degrading agricultural land. The Vice-Chancellor Dr. Vijay Singh and Registrar Dr. Sinha also encouraged the students and distributed prizes. Program coordinator Dr. Jyotsna Mishra concluded the session with a vote of thanks and an environmental pledge. The event was compered by Vishakha Rajurkar Rao.
On June 7, students showcased poems, slogans, and songs on environmental themes, followed by a campus cleanliness drive.
Upcoming activities include an NSS-led workshop on “Best out of Waste,” and a closing day health and fitness workshop by Yogi Sanjay Solanki, along with an expert talk by Dr. Vikas Shende from MP Council of Science and Technology.
