Two US sailors missing off coast of Somalia fall into water while boarding ship

Mogadishu, Jan 14 (UNI) Two missing US Navy SEALs fell into the water in the Gulf of Aden off the coast of Somalia while trying to board a ship, The Washington Post reported on Sunday, citing US officials.

On Saturday, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said that two US Navy sailors went missing at sea while conducting operations off the coast of Somalia. A search and rescue operation was launched to locate the sailors.

The report said that the incident occurred on Thursday in the Gulf of Aden when the sailors were preparing to board the ship in rough seas and one of them slipped from a ladder.

The incident is not related to the recent strikes on Yemen, the multinational Operation Prosperity Guardian to protect the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, or the recent seizure of a Marshall Islands-flagged tanker, the newspaper reported.
