Bhopal: Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya (IGRMS) has begun a five-day special training program for 36 Assistant District Welfare Officer (ADWO) trainees from Gopabandhu Administration Academy, Bhubaneswar. The training is scheduled from June 9 to 13, 2025.
The inaugural session was graced by the Director of the Museum, Professor Dr. Amitabh Pandey, and the Chief Guest, Dr. Tripathi, Director of the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), an internationally acclaimed scholar. Dr. Pandey welcomed Dr. Tripathi and the trainee officers with a bouquet. The event was conducted by Dr. Ashok Vardhan, while Dr. Surya Kumar Pandey, the program coordinator, delivered the welcome address. An introductory film about the museum was also screened.
In his address, Dr. Tripathi emphasized the importance of connecting children to society and nature through schools and universities, encouraging officers to build strong community ties.
Dr. Pandey urged officers to understand their responsibilities and engage directly with rural communities to foster meaningful connections with society.
The training commenced with a session by museum anthropologist Dr. Anuradha Panda, who explained the museum’s role and its relevance to socio-tribal contexts. The program aims to provide the officers with both administrative insights and cultural awareness.
Public Relations Officer of the Museum, Hemant Bahadur Singh Parihar informed that during their study, the team will also visit archaeological heritage sites around Bhopal like Sanchi, Bhimbetka, besides Ujjain and Omkareshwar etc.
