Helsinki, June 2 (UNI) Businesswoman Halla Tomasdottir was in a clear lead over former Prime Minister Katrin Jakobsdottir in the Icelandic presidential election, according to partial results from all constituencies published on Sunday.
With 86,551 of the around 160,000 votes counted, Tomasdottir had 32.4 percent of the vote, compared with 26.3 percent for Jakobsdottir, reported the national broadcaster RUV.
With six constituencies, Iceland’s presidential election, with 12 candidates running for the post this time, takes place in one round, so the one who gets the most votes will be elected.
