New Delhi, Aug 26 (UNI) Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat today declared that time has come for India’s contribution to the world and the objective of RSS is to make India Vishwaguru.
Lamenting that India could not get the desired status in the world that it should have during the past 75 years since independence, he said there was a need for social transformation if India had to rise and make progress.
The RSS chief was speaking at a function here on the inaugural day of a three-day lecture series on ‘100 years of journey of RSS: New Horizons.’ The lecture series is being organised to mark 100 years of RSS. “We are celebrating 100 years this year, but the idea took shape before 1925,” he said and asserted that the essence of the organisation is selfless service to the nation and the Hindu community.
“If we have to make the country rise, it will not happen by leaving the job to someone. Everybody will have a role to play…the role of politicians, governments and political parties is to assist the process,’’ he said and added that India has to play a role on the global stage.
‘’If any country is to become a leader, it should bring new momentum to the world order.’’
He said the DNA of people living for 40,000 years is the same. Common traditions bind people living in undivided India since ancient times.
“Our DNA is the same…Living in harmony is our culture,” he said.
The RSS chief said Hindus believe in coordination and following their own path and respecting others, not fighting over any issues. Since ancient times Indians never differentiated among people and believe that everyone is bound together by the same divinity.
He expressed regret that some people do not acknowledge themselves as Hindus. “Anyone who wants to be identified as a Hindu will have to be a responsible citizen of the country. This is a responsible community because we got this identity a long time ago.”
The RSS Chief said India’s mission lies not in military or economic dominance but in spiritual leadership. “The world values India for its ‘adhyatma and dharma.’ That is our true strength.”
Paying tributes to India’s freedom fighters like Veer Savarkar and movements that shaped the pre-independence era, he lamented that the ‘’wave’’ was not there any longer. It is no longer needed also but but it was an inspiration. He stressed the need for a deeper national consciousness to take root.
He called for an informed discourse on RSS and said discussion on RSS should be based on facts and not on perception. He also called upon people to explore the century-long contributions of RSS rather than rely on hearsay.
