Mumbai/New Delhi, July 14 (UNI) The Supreme Court has decided to deliver its verdict in the petitions related to the Shiv Sena party name and election symbol in the month of August.
The court firmly instructed the lawyers to stop submitting repeated requests concerning the case.
The hearing, which was scheduled for today, was closely followed by people across Maharashtra. The case challenges the Election Commission’s decision to grant the name “Shiv Sena” and the iconic “bow and arrow” symbol to the Eknath Shinde-led faction.
The hearing began in afternoon today, but senior advocate Kapil Sibal, representing the petitioners, was not present in the courtroom at the time. The bench questioned his assisting lawyers about when the arguments would be presented, emphasizing the court’s intent to conclude the case.
Shortly after, Kapil Sibal arrived. However, the bench decided to defer the hearing to August, stating that a date would be announced soon after checking the availability of the bench. The court also issued a sharp reminder to refrain from making further interim applications in the matter.
