Police bust Ganja smuggling ring, Blinkit agent arrested

Bhopal: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Ayodhya Nagar police have arrested a man who was allegedly using his job as a Blinkit delivery agent to smuggle and sell ganja. The accused was apprehended with 5 kg of the substance and a motorcycle, with an estimated combined value of around ?1.5 lakh.

Delivery job used as a front

Acting on a tip-off, police arrested the suspect, Sumat Thakur (25), a resident of Begumganj, Raisen, who was operating from a rented house in Narela, Ayodhya Nagar. Authorities believe Thakur was exploiting his role as a delivery agent to evade suspicion and distribute drugs to a network of clients. His customers allegedly included college and hostel students, as well as drug-addicted youths in the area.

Aspired to buy a car

During questioning, Thakur confessed that he resorted to drug trafficking to earn quick money, with the goal of buying a car. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-02) Dr. Sanjay Kumar Agarwal confirmed the arrest and the ongoing investigation. The police have registered a case against the accused under the NDPS Act, and he remains in police custody for further interrogation. The raid is part of a larger, ongoing campaign by the police to curb the drug menace in the city.
