New Delhi, Oct 25 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi warmly greeted devotees nationwide, especially in Bihar, as the revered four-day Chhath Puja festival commenced today with the sacred Nahay-Khay ritual.
Marking the beginning of this auspicious occasion, PM Modi shared on X, “With the sacred ritual of Nahay-Khay, the grand four-day festival of Chhath begins auspiciously today.”
He conveyed his heartfelt wishes to all celebrating, stating, “My best wishes to devotees across the country, including Bihar.” Paying tribute to those observing the fast, he added, “My salutations and homage to all the observers of the fast!” Chhath Puja holds deep cultural significance, especially in Bihar, Jharkhand, and neighboring eastern states.
Dedicated to the Sun God, the festival expresses gratitude for sustaining life and seeks blessings for the health and prosperity of family and friends. The observance spans four days of dedicated rituals, including fasting, prayers, and offerings made to the rising and setting sun. Beyond its spiritual essence, Chhath Puja is a celebration of nature and community, fostering social unity and cultural exchange.
