PM has time for photo shoots but no time for Manipur: Kharge

New Delhi Jan 6 (UNI) Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi of being indifferent to the issues of the common man and busy with “photo shoots”.

Addressing a press conference at the AICC headquarters here, Kharge said that in May, Manipur kept on burning for days but “The Prime Minister had time for photo shoots donning different attires but you have no time to go to Manipur where people were dying and women raped”.

“Your government is in power; you have time to swim in Lakshadweep but you can’t go to Manipur and talk to the people,” he added.

Kharge further said that the purpose of Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra which will be undertaken by Rahul Gandhi from January 14, is to connect with people and make them aware about how the country was going through an irresponsible phase.

The Congress president said that this yatra is not for votes but taking up issues related to farmers, price rise, labours, women and unemployment.

He said that the yatra will also be a platform to tell the people about the suspension of 146 Members of Parliament.

He said that never in the history of India such a thing has happened.

“Those who were sitting, those who were silent and those not present were suspended and all the Bills were passed,” he added.

Replying to query on Ram Mandir invitation Mr Kharge said that he had got the invitation for the consecration ceremony and a decision will be taken soon.

On INDIA alliance question, Kharge said that the alliance is united and no one should raise question about this. Adding that a meeting will be called and everything will be cleared. It is just a matter of 15-20 days.

On having eight to ten election meetings with alliance partners, Kharge said that place for the meetings will be decided soon.

He also released the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra logo and the slogan “Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra; Nyay Ka Haq Milne Tak”.
