Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jeetu Patwari, in an open letter to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, has raised serious concerns over the state’s deteriorating financial health, citing that the Centre released only ₹8,027.12 crore out of the allocated ₹44,355.95 crore for various schemes during the first half of the current financial year — merely 18.07 per cent of the total provision.
Patwari described the situation as “deeply worrying” for both fiscal stability and developmental progress. He accused the so-called “double-engine government” of complete fiscal failure, saying that despite the BJP ruling both at the Centre and in the state, Madhya Pradesh is being deprived of its rightful share of central funds.
He further alleged that internal conflicts within the BJP organisation and the state cabinet have started affecting public welfare schemes. Prominent leaders including Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Prahlad Patel, Kailash Vijayvargiya and Rakesh Singh, he said, have “failed to fulfil their responsibilities”.
Patwari noted that the non-release of funds for key initiatives such as the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, PM E-Bus Scheme, sub-health centres, new medical colleges, the Ken-Betwa project and various urban development schemes has brought development work to a standstill, hitting the rural and urban poor the hardest.
He also referred to reports that funds under the Jal Jeevan Mission were withheld due to alleged corruption, questioning the state government’s transparency and accountability.
In conclusion, Patwari urged the Chief Minister to take immediate steps to secure the release of central funds, initiate impartial investigations into corruption allegations, and prioritise stalled projects to ensure relief for the people of Madhya Pradesh.
