Mumbai, (UNI) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday visited the residence of megastar Amitabh Bachanhere and tied a ‘rakhi’ on him on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
The Bachchan family had invited ‘Didi’ for a cup of tea during the day as she arrived in the city on a three-day visit to participate in the third conclave of the anti-BJP I.N.D.I.A alliance starting here on Thursday.
“I am very pleased… I met the ‘Bharatratna’ , Amitabh Bachchan… I tied him a ‘rakhi’… I adore this family… They are the number one family of India with a lot of contribution to the nation. I have also invited them to attend the Durga Puja festival and the international film fest (in Kolkata),” gushed Banerjee after the meeting.
Banerjee enjoys a close rapport with the Bachchan family While Amitach is a regular invitee at the opening gala of the International Kolkata Film Festival, his wife Jaya extensively campaigned for Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress in the 2021 Assembly polls.
Jaya Bachchan, sporting a white churidar-kurta with a printed pink dupatta, got down and greeted Banerjee with a warm bear hug as she alighted from her vehicle, and escorted her to the entrance of their residence “Jalsa”.
Present were the bearded Bachchan in a creamish kurta-pajama and a scarf on his head with a greyish shawl draped on the shoulders, a grinning bespectacled Abhishek and the ravishing Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan, sister Shweta Nanda, and grand-daughters – Aaradhya Bachchan and Navya Nanda.
