New Delhi, Feb 28 (UNI) Delhi Police on Saturday arrested a 19-year-old alleged associate of the Kala Jathedi-Om Prakash gang and recovered illegal firearms believed to be intended for a targeted killing, officials said.
According to the police, the accused, Manish alias Mishu, a resident of Jharoda Kalan, was apprehended on February 21 near Dwarka Nala Road close to Metro Pillar No. P-9 in Hari Vihar following specific intel inputs from local sources.
“The AATS team laid a trap and intercepted the suspect while he was allegedly moving with illegal weapons,” said Ankit Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka).
Police recovered two sophisticated semi-automatic country-made pistols along with five live cartridges from his possession.
The officer said that, the weapons were loaded and ready for immediate use, indicating imminent criminal intent.
According to the investigators in this case, Manish is a habitual offender under the Arms Act and was recently arrested in another firearms-related case earlier this year.
While being interrogated by the police, he confessed that he had procured three pistols and around ten cartridges nearly two weeks before his arrest. “One of the weapons is reportedly with an associate based in Rohtak, Haryana, who remains absconding,” he said.
Police further revealed that the firearms were sourced through an interstate illegal arms supply network linked to Khargone in Madhya Pradesh, exposing a wider trafficking chain supplying weapons to gang operatives in Delhi.
Officials said intelligence inputs suggested that the gang was preparing to execute a targeted attack, which was successfully foiled due to timely intervention.
A case under relevant provisions of the Arms Act has been registered at Dwarka North police station, and efforts are underway to arrest other accused and dismantle the interstate arms supply network.
