Japan reports new magnitude 4.6 quake in Ishikawa

Tokyo, (UNI) The Japan Meteorological Agency on Monday reported an aftershock that rocked Ishikawa prefecture, initially assessing its intensity at 7 on the Japanese scale of seismic activity but lowering it to 3 mere ten minutes later.

The latest major tremor, equivalent to magnitude 4.6, shook the island shortly after 11 p.m. local time (14:00 GMT), the weather agency said.

About three dozens quakes up to 7.6 in magnitude rolled across Japan’s western coast earlier in Monday, collapsing homes and triggering high waves.
