Indonesia to roll out economic stimulus in Q3

Jakarta, Aug 6 (UNI) The Indonesian government will launch a 10.8-trillion-rupiah economic stimulus package in the third quarter to accelerate economic expansion, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati announced on Tuesday.

The minister explained that the stimulus forms part of a broader policy package aimed at maintaining purchasing power, supporting businesses, and stabilizing the national economy. It is expected to provide a positive boost to Indonesia’s economic growth, with accelerated government spending seen as a key driver of optimism.

One of the flagship initiatives under the package is the people’s school program. Nearly 200 new schools will begin construction in September, while rehabilitation and renovation projects will continue through July and August.

Speaking at a press conference, Sri Mulyani also revealed that the government is preparing additional stimulus measures to be implemented during the Christmas and New Year holiday period at the end of the year.

Meanwhile, the government will continue efforts to stabilize food prices to safeguard public consumption and will push deregulation in the agricultural sector to facilitate the provision of subsidized fertilizer, she added. (1 Indonesian rupiah equals 0.000061 U.S. dollar).
