IAF Foundation Day celebrations in Bhopal on 30 Sep

  • Fighter jets carrying out rehearsal, showing stunts; people assemble at Boat Club to see spectacular show

Bhopal: The 91st Foundation Day of the Indian Air Force will be celebrated on 30 September in Bhopal. More than 30 fighter planes and helicopters will be performing stunts in the air show to be held on this day.

Fighter planes are rehearsing at the Boat Club for this air show. For this, regular flights of Raja Bhoj Airport have also been rescheduled.

Due to the exercise, flights arriving between 10 am to 12 noon have been rescheduled between 26 and 30 September. Passengers have been informed. Indigo’s Mumbai flight will arrive at 8.45 am and depart at 9.15 am. Indigo’s Udaipur flight will arrive at 8.55 am and depart at 9.20 am. Similarly, Indigo’s Goa flight will arrive on these dates at 12.40 pm and will depart from Bhopal at 1.10 pm.

People are seeing the air show at the Boat Club and VIP Road. Large number of people are reaching Boat Club and VIP Road to see the stunts of fighter planes.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is not attending the program. Governor Mangubhai Patel will be the chief guest. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will also participate in the air show program.

The flypast will include fighter aircraft (Sukhoi-30, Mirage-2000, Jaguar, LCA Tejas, Hawk), helicopters (Chinook, Mi-17 V5, Chetak) and transport aircraft (C130, IL-78 and AN-32).

The ceremony will witness spectacular performances by Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team, Sarang Helicopter Display Team and Akash Ganga Team. The full dress rehearsal of the fly past will be held till 29th September.

Air Marshal AK Bharti said that this air show will be on the theme of Power Beyond Boundaries. In this, aircraft and helicopters like Tejas, Dhruv, Jaguar, Chinook, Surya Kiran will showcase their power. Women pilots will also participate in the flypast.

30 fighter planes and helicopters have reached Bhopal. Of these, 25 aircraft have been parked at Rajabhoj Airport and the remaining 5 at the EME Centre.
