Punjab I-T Dept probes tax evasion and financial irregularities
Bhopal: The Income Tax Department’s raids on Dilip Buildcon offices in Bhopal, initiated by a team from Amritsar on Monday, are still ongoing. The operation is focused on suspected tax evasion and manipulation of investment trusts and shares. Over two dozen officials, including the Principal Director of Investigation, are involved in scrutinizing financial documents at two separate locations.
The Chunabhatti office of Dilip Suryavanshi, the owner of Dilip Buildcon Group, has been under continuous investigation since Monday. According to officials, connections have been established between Suryavanshi and a tax evasion case in Punjab, prompting the current action. A significant cache of documents has reportedly been seized.
Batsala Jha, Director General of Investigation, Income Tax Department (Chandigarh region), confirmed the raids stating that the final report is yet to be filed.
Notably, the Amritsar team did not involve local police or the Bhopal Income Tax office in the raids. They were supported instead by the Madhya Pradesh State Armed Force (MP SAF).
I-T officials also raided Arnil Technocraft in Pithampu
In a parallel action, I-T officials also raided Arnil Technocraft Pvt. Ltd. in Pithampur, Dhar district. The company, reportedly linked to Dilip Buildcon, manufactures road infrastructure equipment.
Dilip Buildcon has stated it was not informed in advance about the raids and remains unclear about the reason behind the investigation. While the IT Department has yet to release an official statement, officials indicated that the company will be notified once all relevant documents are reviewed. The full scope of the case will become clearer once the inquiry concludes.
