Helicopter involved in fighting fires in Turkey falls into water reservoir

Ankara, Sep 17 (UNI) A helicopter that was involved in extinguishing fires in the Turkish province of Izmir fell into a water reservoir, Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Ibrahim Yumakli said on Sunday, adding that one crew member was saved.

“After checking, it turned out that the helicopter crashed and fell into the Tahtali water reservoir, from which it was extracting water to extinguish a forest fire in the Menderes region,” Yumakli said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The police, coast guard and disaster management department are involved in the search and rescue operation, the minister stated, adding that one crew member was saved, with rescuers searching for three others.
