Bhopal: The city was lashed with heavy rainfall on Friday. The weather changed and dark clouds enveloped the sky at about 12 noon. The city experienced intense rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning, resulting in approximately 200 meters of roadway behind the Police Headquarters (PHQ) being flooded and causing traffic congestion.
Intermittent showers continued with many residential and commercial areas of Bhopal getting submerged. Roads were inundated as the rain persisted. This heavy downpour followed a week-long period of only moderate rainfall, exacerbating conditions in areas affected by water-logging.
Residents in several low-lying flooded neighborhoods were seen draining rainwater that had entered their homes, resulting in damage to household items. Many slum dwellers relocated their belongings to safer locations to avoid further loss. In response to the situation, the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) has deployed teams across all wards to assist in draining the accumulated rainwater.
