Giant ‘babies’ urge passersby to grow up and go dairy-free

Bhopal — In a unique and attention-grabbing protest for World Breastfeeding Week, two activists dressed in 2.5-meter-tall inflatable infant costumes took to the streets of Bhopal. The PETA India and Animals With Humanity supporters held signs declaring, “Milk Is for Babies! Dump Dairy,” as they handed out free packets of plant-based mylk to passersby.

The campaign aimed to remind the public that all mammal mothers, including cows and humans, produce milk exclusively for their offspring, and that humans have no biological need for it after infancy. The activists highlighted the cruel reality of the dairy industry, where calves are torn away from their mothers so that their milk can be commercially sold.

PETA India’s message was a powerful one: the strong bond between a mother and her baby is universal, and by consuming dairy, people are complicit in a cycle of cruelty. They explained that in the dairy sector, cows are forcibly impregnated, and their calves are taken away shortly after birth. Male calves are often abandoned or sold for slaughter, while females face the same fate as their mothers, enduring a life of repeated pregnancies and milk production until their bodies give out. The campaign urged people to switch to the many delicious and compassionate vegan alternatives available.
