New Delhi, May 7 (UNI) India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday predicted a fresh heatwave spell over Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh for the next three days.
According to IMD, “Heatwave conditions expected over East Rajasthan on May 8 & 9; over West Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh from May 8-10.”
“Heatwave conditions in isolated pockets over Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, South Interior Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe on May 7 and over Interior Karnataka on May 7 & 8,” the IMD said.
The weather department also predicted a wet spell accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds over East and south Peninsular India till May 11.
“Scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by isolated thunderstorms, lightning and winds gusting up to 40 kmph is very likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura for the next 4-5 days,” the IMD said.
“Isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Rayalaseema on May 7 & 8; over Telangana on May 7, over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal on May 08th & 09th, over Kerala & Mahe on 08th & 11th and over South Interior Karnataka on 08th May,” the IMD added.
The MeT department also forecast, “Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall activity accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand from May 9 to 12.
“Isolated light to moderate rainfall very likely over Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab and Rajasthan on May 11 & 12; over Uttar Pradesh from May 9-12,” the IMD said.
Duststorms and thunderstorms with gusty winds (30-40 kmph) will prevail over East Uttar Pradesh during 07th – 09th May ; and over Haryana and Rajasthan on 10th & 11th May. Strong surface winds (30-40 kmph) likely to prevail over Uttar Pradesh, south Rajasthan during the next 3 days, it added.
