- Land encroachment: Authorities to demarcate govt land in Anantpura Kokta

Bhopal: In a decisive move, the district administration has initiated further action against the ‘Machhli’ family following the demolition of seven properties within 23 days, resulting in the removal of encroachments from government land valued at about Rs 125 crore. Authorities are set to demarcate 99 acres of land belonging to the Animal Husbandry Department located in the Anantpura Kokta bypass area of Bhopal.
On Tuesday, a presentation outlining the action plan was presented to Collector Kaushlendra Vikram Singh. The operation will be led by Govindpura SDM Ravish Kumar Srivastava and Tehsildar Saurabh Verma. Reports indicate significant encroachment by the Machhli family across a substantial portion of the 99 acres, which also includes parts of a nearby colony. Investigations are currently underway, and notices have already been issued to 20 individuals, including members of the Machhli family.
Demarcation expected to take 7 to 10 days
Demarcation of the land is expected to take between seven to ten days, with operations commencing on Wednesday. ADM Ankur Meshram confirmed that a comprehensive plan is in place for the demarcation process, emphasizing that any illegal occupations identified will be promptly addressed.
In a related incident, Huzur SDM Vinod Sonkia has alerted the Bilkhiriya Kalan police station regarding the unauthorized reopening of seals on a three-storey building that was previously sealed due to height violations and community protests. The discovery of altered locks raises concerns of potential fraud, prompting a call for action against those responsible.
The recent actions come on the heels of the demolition of an illegal mansion belonging to Shahwar Machhli and his nephew Yasin, who are currently facing serious criminal charges.
