On the fifth Monday of the month of Sawan, a large number of devotees had ‘darshan’ at Lord Mahakaleshwar Temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of the country, in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh and performed worship with rituals.
In the month of Shravan, devotees from many states of the country visit the south-facing Lord Mahakaleshwar temple. People from abroad come to visit Lord Mahakal.
Thousands of devotees participated in the Bhasma Aarti early in the morning. On account of Adhimas,
crowd of devotees was also seen in other temples including 84 Mahadev and other temples in the city
and surrounding areas.
Sources of the temple management committee told that today the doors of Lord Mahakaleshwar temple were opened from 02:30 am, after that a large number of devotees paid obeisance to God.
The Kartikeya Mandap of the temple was kept empty for the devotees coming to Bhasmarti so that
more and more people could have darshan at bhasma aarti. Bhasma aarti is a famous ritual here. It is performed during the ‘Brahma Muhurta’ around 3:30 and 5:30 in the morning.
