New Delhi, May 2 (UNI) Four members of a family including three children were killed when a tree fell on their makeshift room in the Najafgarh area of Delhi following storm and rain on Friday, police said.
According to the police, the strong winds and rain uprooted a tree which fell on a tubewell room built on a field in Kharakadi Nahar village of Najafgarh. The room collapsed and the entire family sleeping inside was buried under the debris.
Four family members, including a woman and her three children, died in the incident, while the husband was seriously injured and hospitalised.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta described the incident as tragic and distressing, saying that the district administration has been instructed to provide all necessary assistance immediately.
Gupta said, “The news of the tragic death of four members of the same family and one person being injured due to a fallen tree during the strong storm and rain in Kharakadi Nahar village, Najafgarh, is extremely distressing. I pay tribute to the departed souls and express my deepest condolences to the bereaved family. I pray to God to give the grieving family the strength to bear this unbearable loss and grant the injured person a speedy recovery.”
The Chief Minister added, “The Delhi government stands with the affected family in this difficult time. The district administration has been instructed to provide all necessary assistance immediately.”
