New Delhi, (UNI) Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor on Tuesday hit out at the Congress for raising the issue of pollution spike in Delhi when the average Air Quality Index is almost 70 to 100 points lower than what it was in the past three years, during the Arvind Kejriwal regime.
Kapoor said that on Monday, Delhi recorded an AQI at 310, while in the three preceding years it was 382, 468 & 450. He wondered why Congress leaders are only talking about Delhi’s pollution now, while they remained silent when AAP was in power, and added that the grand old party leaders continue to ignore heavy pollution in various parts of Punjab ruled by Kejriwal’s AAP party.
According to the Delhi BJP spokesperson’s claims, Delhi’s pollution situation started deteriorating from 2009 onwards, when Congress was in power, and alleged that the government back then did nothing to frame an anti- pollution policy.
Earlier, on Tuesday, accusing the BJP government in Delhi of failing to prevent pollution, state unit chief of the Congress party Devender Yadav launched an awareness campaign by distributing masks, to spread awareness amongst people regarding pollution.
“We have distributed masks in all 70 Assembly Constituencies of Delhi so that people may be aware to protect their health from life threatening pollution,” Yadav said.
