Air India Flight makes emergency landing in Bhopal

  • All 172 passengers safe

Bhopal: An Air India flight traveling from Delhi to Bengaluru was forced to make an emergency landing at Raja Bhoj Airport in Bhopal on Monday night following a technical snag. All 172 passengers and crew members aboard the A320 Neo aircraft are reported to be completely safe.

The pilot initiated the emergency procedure after receiving a warning indicator concerning the cargo hold. At 7:33 PM, an emergency was declared, prompting immediate activation of the airport’s control, fire, and ground teams. The professionalism of the crew and airport staff ensured the aircraft was brought down safely at 8:00 PM.

Prompt Action Saves the Day

Airport Director Ramji Awasthi confirmed the swift response, noting that landing at a major airport like Bhopal is standard protocol when such technical alerts occur. The precautionary landing allowed technical teams to immediately begin inspecting the aircraft’s systems. This quick and decisive action prevented any potential danger to the people on board.

Second incident in two days

This incident marks the second emergency landing for Air India in just two days, highlighting a concerning trend for the airline. Previously, an Air India long-haul flight from San Francisco to Delhi was diverted to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, due to a technical fault. Aviation experts, however, stress that modern aircraft often display warnings even for minor technical signals, making the airline’s immediate adherence to safety protocols a crucial measure for passenger security.
