Daughter cuts ties

  • Man impersonates Chief Justice to harass father

Bhopal: In a bizarre case of retaliation, a businessman in Arera Colony has been subjected to relentless mental harassment by a man falsely claiming to be the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. The bizarre calls began after the businessman’s daughter stopped communicating with the man. After repeated torment, the businessman’s son reported the matter to the Habibganj police, who have now launched an investigation.

Harassment unfolds

Habibganj police reported that 41-year-old Gaurav (name changed), a private sector employee residing in Arera Colony, lodged the complaint. He stated that his father, a local businessman, began receiving repeated WhatsApp calls from an unknown individual on his mobile phone in December 2024. The caller immediately identified himself as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and proceeded to engage in unsettling conversations.

While the caller never explicitly threatened or attempted to defraud the businessman, his persistent calls were clearly designed to exert psychological pressure. The continuous harassment prompted the family to file a police report.

Revenge plot uncovered

Based on the provided mobile number, the police have registered a case, including charges for misusing the name and position of a public servant. Preliminary investigations have revealed a surprising motive: the accused was reportedly a former friend of the businessman’s daughter. When the daughter decided to end their communication, the man allegedly began harassing her family as an act of revenge.

Police confirm they have identified the accused through the mobile number and anticipate a swift arrest.
