Dastardly switches shame Indian politics

By Special Correspondent

Bhopal: Congress spokesperson Vikrant Choudhary today delivered a scathing verdict on the culture of opportunistic party-switching in Indian politics, saying it has reached a shameful nadir. He accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the ruling party of treating defectors as disposable assets in a callous “use and throw” strategy that erodes democratic norms and dishonours long-standing political traditions.

“Those who have switched allegiance have no option left; they have been used by the BJP and discarded,” Choudhary asserted. “Their value was one-time; once exhausted, they are cast aside. They may now choose whatever bin of rubbish they prefer to throw themselves into.”

Choudhary warned that such manoeuvres damage public trust and reduce politics to a mercenary transaction. He urged voters to punish what he described as cynical manipulation and to defend the dignity of democratic practice. The Congress intends to highlight these episodes across constituencies to stress the importance of loyalty and principle in public life.

The spokesperson concluded that rebuilding faith in politics requires respecting traditions, transparent conduct and rejecting the commodification of representatives for short-term gain. He called for immediate legal reforms and stronger anti-defection measures nationwide urgently.
