Dalai Lama congratulates Arunachal CM on his party’s success in Assembly polls

Itanagar, Jun 3 (UNI) Tibetan spiritual leader, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, on Monday wrote to Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu to congratulate him on his party’s success in recently held State Legislative Assembly election.

The ruling BJP in Arunachal Pradesh stormed back to power with a landslide victory in the April 19 Assembly polls, results of which were announced on Sunday.

The saffron party has secured 46 seats, including 10 unopposed, in the 60-member Assembly.

“I would like to congratulate you on your party’s victory in the state assembly elections,” the Tibetan spiritual leader wrote in his congratulatory letter to Khandu.

Noting that “over the years, Arunachal Pradesh has made tremendous strides in development and prosperity”, the Dalai Lama said, “I hope that you will also continue to strive to improve the lives of those who are less privileged.”

His Holiness wished Khandu success in meeting challenges that may lie ahead in fulfilling hopes and aspirations of people of Arunachal Pradesh.

Having felt “immensely blessed” to have received the congratulatory message from Dalai Lama, Khandu wrote on X: “The warm words of encouragement from His Holiness mean a lot to us and will always inspire us to work harder for the betterment of our state and its lovely people.”
