Congress to show solidarity with Gaza on Gandhi Jayanti day in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 1 (UNI) The Congress in Kerala will mark Gandhi Jayanti this year with state-wide “Manishada” gatherings tomorrow, sending a strong message of solidarity and support to the people of Gaza and Palestine.
Announcing the programmes, KPCC President Sunny Joseph, MLA, said that all 140 constituency-level committees will organise solidarity meetings at 5 pm, condemning the humanitarian crisis and “genocide” in Palestine.
The assemblies will bring together leading figures from social, cultural, and artistic spheres to emphasise Gandhi’s ideals of non-violence, justice, and peace in today’s global context.
At the KPCC headquarters in Thiruvananthapuram, the day will begin at 10 am with floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, led by senior Congress Working Committee member A.K. Antony, followed by renditions of patriotic songs.
Ward-level committees have also been directed to hold commemorative events, including floral offerings, remembrance speeches, and voluntary service initiatives, highlighting the continued relevance of Gandhi’s principles.
Congress leaders emphasised that Gandhi Jayanti should not be seen merely as a day of remembrance, but as an occasion to translate moral conviction into action, reaffirming Kerala’s compassion and solidarity with oppressed communities across the world.
