Congress MLA lodges complaint with Lokayukta over excise irregularities

Bhopal: Congress MLA Mahesh Parmar on Friday submitted a formal complaint at the Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta office alleging serious irregularities in the Excise Department. He was accompanied by fellow legislator Dinesh Gurjar.

In a memorandum addressed to the Lokayukta, Parmar alleged that certain senior officials in the Excise Department misused their positions to extend undue benefits to Som Distillery. He claimed that despite a conviction by the Depalpur court, there was a deliberate delay in cancelling the distillery’s licence, and that it was subsequently renewed in violation of established rules.

The complaint further stated that the matter was kept pending for nearly two years under the pretext of seeking the Advocate General’s opinion, allegedly causing financial loss to the State exchequer. Parmar demanded that a case be registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act and called for a fair and time-bound inquiry.

Gurjar asserted that no individual is above the law and urged swift action to ensure accountability and prevent recurrence of such irregularities.
