Chinese shuttlers keep momentum on second day of Malaysia Open 2026

Kuala Lumpur, Jan 7 (UNI) Chinese shuttlers put on a solid performance on Day 2 of the Malaysia Open 2026 as they advanced in all categories here on Wednesday.

Men’s singles shuttler Lu Guangzu knocked out Angus Ng Ka Long of Hong Kong, China 21-17, 21-15 at the Axiata Arena. Men’s doubles duo Chen Xujun and Liu Yang outplayed Liu Kuang Heng and Yang Po Han of Chinese Taipei 24-22, 21-13.

Women’s singles player Gao Fangjie overcame Japan’s Gunji Riko 13-21, 21-17, 21-19, while Wang Zhiyi defeated her Scottish opponent 21-17, 21-9.

Women’s doubles pair Jia Yifan and Zhang Shuxian rolled over Hsu Ya Ching and Sung Yu-Hsuan of Chinese Taipei 21-19, 21-10.

Mixed doubles duo Jiang Zhenbang and Wei Yaxin knocked out Rohan Kapoor and Ruthvika Shivani Gadde of India 21-10, 21-17

The Chinese team also saw setbacks, with men’s singles shuttlers Wang Zhengxing and Weng Hongyang, as well as men’s doubles duo Huang Di/Ren Xiangyu failing to make the cut.

The Malaysia Open runs from January 6 to 11.
