Arjun Singh commemoration and All-India Mushaira concludes

Bhopal: A grand cultural evening was organised on Wednesday in the fond remembrance of former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and senior Congress leader, the late Arjun Singh. The event, titled “Arjun Singh Alankaran and All-India Mushaira”, took place at the open-air auditorium of Ravindra Bhavan at 8:30 pm. The programme was hosted by the Arjun Singh Sadbhavana Manch.

Renowned poets and Shayars from across the country paid heartfelt tributes to the late leader through their evocative verses, highlighting his contributions to public life, education, and communal harmony.

The chief guest for the evening was Kishori Lal Sharma, Member of Parliament from Amethi, Uttar Pradesh. Distinguished guest Abhimanyu Singh, popularly known as Deepu Dada and son of the late Arjun Singh, shared inspiring memories of his father, recalling his commitment to social justice and inclusive development.

The event saw the presence of several notable dignitaries, including former Maharashtra Minister Naseem Ahmed Siddiqui, MLA Arif Masood, Atif Aqeel, former Minister and MLA P.C. Sharma, Sheryar Khan alongside senior Congress leaders, party workers, prominent citizens, and social activists.

During the ceremony, individuals from various fields who have demonstrated exceptional contributions were honoured with the Arjun Singh Alankaran award. Among the awardees were Ashok Singh, son of legendary hockey wizard Dhyan Chand; veteran journalist Vijay Dutt Shridhar; renowned folk singer Prahlad Singh Tipaniya; cultural advocate Harishchandra Bhatti; along with several other distinguished personalities recognised for their influence in society, culture, and literature.

The evening was further enriched by performances from celebrated poets and Shayars, including Tahir Faraz (Rampur), Popular Meerathi (Meerut), Manzar Bhopali (Bhopal), Shabeena Adeeb (Kanpur), Shakeel Azmi (Mumbai), and many others, who enthralled the audience with their soulful poetry.

A large gathering of Congress workers, literary figures, and citizens attended the event, reflecting the continuing respect and admiration for the legacy of Arjun Singh.
