- Congress demands swift implementation and accountability

Bhopal: A significant all-party meeting was convened at the Chief Minister’s residence Thursday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav to deliberate on legal hurdles surrounding the Other Backward Classes (OBC) reservation in Madhya Pradesh and to chalk out the way forward.
The meeting was attended by Congress State President Jeetu Patwari, Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar, Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Singh, former Union Minister Arun Yadav, CWC member Kamleshwar Patel, Commission Chairperson, and representatives from other political parties.
Speaking after the meeting, Patwari said: “The Chief Minister invited all parties to discuss the legal issues obstructing OBC reservation. It was agreed that if a pathway for its early implementation is found, it would be a positive step. Consensus was reached that the law must be enforced and those responsible for delaying it for six years should face action.”
Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar added, “Better late than never—perhaps Lord Ganesha has given them wisdom. We have consistently demanded 27% OBC reservation, which our government had passed in the Assembly. The court never stayed it; it was deliberately withheld by the government. Now, all party lawyers will prepare a joint report for day-to-day hearings.”
The Congress underlined four key demands: speedy resolution of legal barriers, accountability of those responsible for the delay, consensus-driven action, and safeguarding the future of OBC youth through access to education and employment.
The party reiterated its commitment to ensuring that OBC reservation, as a guarantee of social justice and equal opportunity, is implemented without further delay.
