Rohit wants India in final, SKY eyes Australia

Mumbai, Nov (UNI) Former Indian captain Rohit Sharma said he cannot single out any team as India’s ideal opponent in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 final, but emphasised that he wants India to be there and come out on top.

“Obviously, I want India to be in the finals. I can’t really put my finger on another team and say this or that. What has happened in the past has happened. I know Surya (Suryakumar Yadav) said it with a lot of passion and a heavy heart, Australia coming there and beating them in the same stadium,” Rohit said.

He added, “But I think India playing the final against any team, and India coming out on top, is what I would love to see. I’m not sure what others want, but I don’t really care about the opposition, to be honest. I just prefer India to be there, and then let’s see what happens.”

Indian skipper Suryakumar, speaking at the ICC T20 World Cup schedule announcement event, said he would like to face Australia in the final. “I would like to face Australia in the final,” SKY said.

Rohit, now the ICC brand ambassador, also reflected on watching the tournament from home.

“Now to sit on the other side and watch the T20 World Cup… I am still getting used to sitting at home and watching it on TV,” he said.
