State takes a leap into digital education with e-libraries

  • Over 32 lakh books now accessible online to students

Bhopal: The Higher Education Department of Madhya Pradesh is driving a technological revolution in education by digitizing the libraries of 544 government colleges and universities across the state. These libraries have been transformed into e-libraries, offering students free, online access to a vast collection of books. This initiative ensures that students from both rural and urban areas have equal access to educational resources, bridging the digital divide.

The e-library system has been developed on a university-wide basis, with each university creating a digital cluster that integrates the libraries of all affiliated colleges. Students can now easily access subject-specific books by visiting their university’s e-library portal.

To use the e-library, students must register with their respective colleges. Once registered, they receive an auto-generated ID and password to access the e-books. Currently, over 1o lakh students have registered, and more than 32 lakh books are available online.

This initiative marks a significant step toward digital education in the state, allowing students to study anytime and anywhere. Additional Chief Secretary Anupam Rajan and Commissioner Prabal emphasized that this effort aims to provide quality, accessible education to all government college students, contributing to the state’s progress in digital learning.
