Indore: Judicial proceedings across Madhya Pradesh will observe an extended break as the state’s courts announce holidays for the Diwali festival. The suspension of work will affect thousands of pending cases across the state.

According to former Indore Bar Association President, advocate Gopal Kacholia, all District and Sessions Courts, along with subordinate courts, will remain closed from October 18 to October 23. This period includes the third Saturday (Oct 18), Sunday (Oct 19), and the main Diwali holidays from October 20 to 23.

The Madhya Pradesh High Court, including the principal bench in Jabalpur and the circuit benches in Indore and Gwalior, will observe a longer recess. The High Court will remain closed from October 18 to October 26. This extended closure accounts for the Diwali break, plus two weekends.
