Cooperative Society Manager Caught Red-Handed by Lokayukt: Accepting Rs 59000 Bribe in Tamia

Tamia (Chhindwara) – In a significant crackdown on corruption, a manager of a cooperative society in Tamia was arrested by the Lokayukta police while accepting a bribe of Rs 59,000.

Following instructions for strict action against graft from Director General Lokayukta, the Jabalpur unit successfully trapped Munim Prasad Patel, 55, the in-charge manager of the Aadim Jaati Sewa Sahkarita Samiti, Zirpa. The arrest took place in the afternoon at the District Cooperative Central Bank branch on the main road.

Warehouse operator Harish Rai, 26, of Zirpa, had complained that Patel demanded a Rs 1 lakh bribe—with Rs 59,000 as the first instalment—to ensure the smooth operation of Rai’s ‘Shri Hari’ warehouse and to prevent it from being blacklisted.

The Lokayukta team, including Inspectors Uma Kushwaha, Rekha Prajapati, and Jitendra Yadav, caught Patel red-handed accepting the money. The accused has been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act. This operation underscores the sustained commitment of the Lokayukta to root out corruption in public service.
