Hyderabad, Sep 26 (UNI) Bangladesh’s Jamal Hossain was declared the winner of the Rs 1 crore Telangana Golconda Masters 2025 after heavy rain forced the abandonment of the final round at the Hyderabad Golf Association (HGA) here today.
The tournament result was declared based on total scores after 54 holes, as no play was possible in the fourth round due to inclement weather.
Jamal Hossain (61-62-64), who led the field by four shots after round three with a 54-hole tally of 23-under 187, lifted his sixth title and first since November last year. The 40-year-old from Dhaka collected the winning purse of INR 15 lakh, moving from 14th to 10th position in the 2025 PGTI Order of Merit.
Chandigarh’s Akshay Sharma (62-64-65) claimed the runner-up spot with a total of 19-under 291 after three rounds, earning INR 10 lakh and rising from 34th to 21st in the PGTI merit list.
Khalin Joshi (65-66-66) of Bengaluru finished third at 13-under 197, while Delhi’s Arjun Prasad secured sixth place at 11-under 199, maintaining second position in the PGTI Ranking with season earnings of INR 69,71,599. Chandigarh-based Yuvraj Sandhu, who did not participate in this event, remains atop the PGTI money list with INR 88,67,200.
Hyderabad’s Vishesh Sharma was the best-performing local golfer, finishing tied 22nd at five-under 205.
Hossain dominated all three rounds, leading from start to finish. He held a one-shot lead after the first round with a tournament-low 61, extended it to three shots after a second-round 62, and then to four shots with a 64 in round three, dropping just one bogey over 54 holes.
Jamal Hossain said, “I’m elated to have finally won this season after coming close on a couple of occasions earlier this year. I would have loved to play the final round, but the weather was beyond our control. I felt consistent throughout the week, thanks to my driving and putting. The first-round 61 set me up perfectly.
“My next big goal is to perform well and make a mark at the DP World India Championship in Delhi next month. My form is building up well heading into that event.”
